Continuous visibility. Zero guesswork.
Rapidly deployable sensors designed for reliable monitoring of manholes, chambers, and network assets.
THE PROBLEM
Utilities are responsible for monitoring and maintaining vast asset networks, often with limited personnel and constrained budgets, while facing growing challenges from climate change, urbanization, and aging infrastructure.
From back-ups and CSOs/SSOs to pollution events, inflow & infiltration, blockages, surcharging, and more, there is almost always an incident waiting to happen. Could mass monitoring across your network be the solution?
Existing sensing tools and software are often too expensive to purchase, install, maintain, and integrate, and are simply clunky to use.
THE SOLUTION
Our low-cost, long-life, and easy-to-install level sensors enable affordable, network-wide monitoring, helping you respond proactively and plan ahead. Whether you are modeling an entire catchment or monitoring a small number of hotspot locations, it has never been easier to deploy at scale using our ManholeMonitor level sensor and Porthole platform, which deliver email and text alerts for real-time and predicted events.
What could you achieve with this data? Provide peace of mind to affected homeowners and environmental compliance officers. Equip planning teams with reliable data to calibrate hydraulic models and deliver capital improvement projects. Give field crews greater visibility so not every call becomes urgent.
Our solution offers unprecedented affordability, driven by both the low cost of the system itself and the simplicity of installation, operation, maintenance, and integration.
Cost
We are transparent and affordable in our pricing and tend to come in at around 1/10 the lifetime cost of other technologies, thanks to our low equipment, software, installation, maintenance and integration costs.
Our pricing formula is as simple as 1, 2, 3 - We charge for the sensor (1), the mounting accessories (bracket/optional external antennas) (2), and a single price per sensor per year (3), which includes all of the data transmission costs and access to our platform Porthole for as many users as you'd like with all the alerts and analytics included.
We don't charge extra for anything else! We even include access to our API at no cost. Please get in touch for more pricing details.
Installation
Confined space entry? Tripods? Drilling through the lid? Externally mounted antennas? Power supply? Forget all of that. The ManholeMonitor is a top-mounted unit and can be installed by just about anyone in 5-10 minutes, with existing tools from your toolbox and our dedicated installation app (available for iPhone and Android) which walks you through the steps and captures essential data such as site location, photos, invert etc. It is a fully integrated unit with its own battery power and antenna so really is plug and play, without the plug! An external antenna connection is also provided which permits usage in areas with poor signal, and for mounting of the units deep below ground.
The unit accommodates multiple mounting options, the most popular of which is our universal stainless steel bracket, which allows for easy adjustment of the sensor along its arm thanks to the sensor's powerful magnets. Other options include strapping to grated covers or a prop, and mounting magnetically to the underside of the manhole covers (ideal for hinged lids). It really is a one sensor fits all solution, from stormwater, to sanitary sewers and lift stations, the sensor can mount almost anywhere.
As our units are so quick and simple to install, you can easily move them around for temporary monitoring. Designed with field crews in mind, the cheapest and easiest time to install, is when you're already on site responding to an issue.
Operation and maintenance
Our sensors achieve a 10+ year battery life at standard industry frequencies (15-minute intervals and 24-hour relay), multiples that of alternative monitoring solutions, where more can be spent on personnel to replace batteries than the unit itself costs.
Our long battery life allows a much longer horizon for return on investment. With a 0.3-7m/1-24ft level reading range thanks to its ultrasonic sensor, and accuracy of +/-1cm/0.5 in, the unit is ideally suited to all but the shallowest and deepest of chambers. Its IP68 environmental certification and operating temperature of -40 to +60 Centigrade/-40 to +140 Fahrenheit (pictured is an icy Minnesota installation) ensures it can withstand the most harsh physical conditions, even if surcharging occurs and the unit is immersed.
Integration
No existing internal platform? No problem! Our solution is fully integrated and our own web-based platform Porthole can be completely standalone and lets you gain the full benefit of our system - many of our clients don't have any other platforms and say they don't need it either. Our system provides real-time alerts for both level and rate of change settings, as well as predictive alerts for both sanitary, stormwater and combined systems for blockages, I&I, flooding and silt build-up using historic level and rainfall data from each sensor.
Do you already have digital systems? Great! Our API is included, so if you want to, you can go right ahead and pull the data feeds from our sensors right into any existing SCADA and data visualisation platform you might use, we will even provide template code to make it as simple as possible.
