First International Shipment

A major milestone for ManholeMetrics

This past week, we completed our first international shipment directly from our production facility, enabled by our new CAA-approved and IATA-certified status as a packer and shipper of dangerous goods containing lithium batteries. This is a meaningful step forward, especially as our deployments and customer base in the United States continue to grow.

Lithium batteries are classified as dangerous goods due to the risk of thermal runaway, fire, and explosion if they are damaged, improperly packaged, or exposed to extreme conditions. Our new certification ensures that our sensors are packaged, documented, and transported safely in full compliance with international aviation and transport regulations.

This achievement allows us to streamline our supply chain by shipping directly from our facility, reducing lead times for customers and removing the need for packing and dispatch through certified third-party providers. Reaching this stage reflects not only our technical progress, but also the operational maturity behind our hardware design, manufacturing workflows, and quality assurance processes.

Our sensors are designed to provide reliable, low-maintenance water level monitoring in sewer and stormwater networks. They help utilities gain early visibility into surcharging, blockages, and flood risk, supporting a more proactive, data-driven approach to network management.

As more utilities look to expand monitoring coverage in a practical and cost-effective way, we are proud to be supporting projects beyond the UK and strengthening our presence overseas.

This shipment represents the combined efforts of everyone across the ManholeMetrics team and marks an important step as we continue building the foundations to scale globally throughout the year ahead.
